4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Thinking of getting DD (6) a couple of female Guinea Pigs - have never owned any before.

 

Where would we get them from and what is the best age to get them? We have asked at RSPCA but they don't have any and the only other place we saw them was at PETS AT HOME.

 

We are in Warrington, so any ideas please?

It's a bit of a drive from Warrington, but if you want to rescue some, you could try Tameside Rabbit and Guinea-pig Rescue - they always need loving homes for GPs and often have babies available. Their website is

www.tamesiderabbitandguineapigrescue.info They might know of rescues nearer to you, perhaps, if it's a bit far.

 

You're right to avoid PAH - those are just factory-farmed GPs. You might be able to find a breeder though - is there a national GP society who could put you in touch with one, I wonder?

Have just checked the Tameside website myself - check out those adorable baby GPs on the first page! Wish I could have some, but with a dog, two rabbits and a large fishtank already DH would have something to say if I got any...

Hi i recently bought 2 baby guinea pigs- one from a breeder and one from pets at home....there is a big difference in them. Ronny the one from the breeder has been well handled and he is not nervous. Whereas Ray from pets at home is still very nervous. If poss you should try and get some from a local breeder! Try www.preloved.co.uk thats where i found Ronny. There is always baby GP's for sale on the site.

I would go with local breeders or RSPCA - pets at home do not have a good reputation for small animals in MY opinion, I know of 2 many that have died very early on after being taken home.
