lucywatkins
Hi Looking for some help please! About 6 weeks ago we got some Wyandotte Bantums from a breeder. They were very nervous to begin with and we couldn't get near them for a few weeks. Ever since we have had them, one of them has had yellow poo (sometimes looks frothy). Also, when we first got her, it looked as if she had a slight bold patch under her vent area. This has now spread and she has a bold circle below her vent (the size of a golf ball). Her poo remains yellow and runny. At first we put it down to stress, but she has integrated well with our other chickens and seems well. She is not being bullied and I am sure she is not moulting. I have found descriptions on the forum of yellow poo, but they all talk about the bird being depressed and off her food, ours isn't, but I am sure she has something wrong with her. Not sure if this is related or not, but she also has scaly leg mite (which the breeder assured me she didn't) . Lucy
Scramble
Hi, I don't feel I can give you any 'first-hand' advice but have you seen this section on the chicken keeping guide of Omlet? *Omlet Chicken Guide - Droppings* Hope that helps
Egluntyne
I think I'd worm her as a precaution. I use Flubenvet. Also, for the time being keep her on just pellets, water, some probiotic yoghurt and bokashi bran if you can get hold of some. Avipro is also a useful addition when they have the squitts. If she doesn't improve, I'd be inclined to take her to the vet.
stoice
I'd follow Egluntines advice. What scares me when poo watching is thinking things are worse than they are. A vet can at least give you a professional opinion if DIY options do not seem to help. What scares me more is this post... viewtopic.php?f=11&t=29321 (I just hope it's me being all doom and gloom rather than it being the same problem as DeanUK encountered) I don't mean to scare you either
lucywatkins
Thanks for that. I must sya, I have seen the photo of the yellow poo and it does look remarkably similar. I therfore looked up the symptoms of blackhead (or whatever its called) \nd she didn't have any of the other symptoms. However, I came home from work today and she had an egg stuck to her bottom feathers. The egg has now fallen off, it has a whole in it and the inside is like one huge blood clot. She is also not eating. Oh, this is not sounding good. Looks like a trip to the vet tomorrow. Anyone got any thoughts?
Egluntyne
I think I'd take her to the vet for a once over. That egg sounds a bit unusual.
