My "booty" is all set up, the group is arriving and I should actually be outside, but I've got to catch up on the forum first. I'll let you all know how everything goes at the end of the day today. :D Wish me luck.

Finished for the day, and got rid of some of my junk (anothers treasure) I'm sure. We had a great turn out, I think because we are on the scenic route to New Hampshire, and loads of traffic heading North for thier "end of summer" vacation. Labor Day here is the official end of summer and Monday is Labor Day. I made $75.00 and we may extend until 2pm on Sunday, expecting more traffic heading North.

We (group of 8) all had a great time and the whole group of us did well. One of the girls made $150.00! :D I was able to find nice homes for 7 of Pumpkins kittens (remember I'm keeping one). The were LOADS of people interested in the Eglu and the girls (I hope Omlet will be flooded with requests for more information). Too bad ALL the girls aren't laying c'mon Ouiser and Truvy, I know you can do it!! I'm sure I would have been able to sell some eggs.

All my prices were very clearly marked (firm), I was suprised at the amount of people who tried to get the price of things lower. I just told these people that I would rather not sell the item and took it back in the house. I would wait for them to leave and then bring the item back out. So our version of a "car boot" went well and it may be a yearly event at the Wilson/Williams homestead! Thanks for the idea. :D

We may extend todays to tomorrow, but ONLY if the weather stays dry. :D

I expected people to haggle Lonney, but some of the offers were JUST waaaaaaaay to low, and I wouldn't budge. :notalk: I don't (as a rule) have issues with people who haggle, and I know in some cultures it is considered an insult if you don't, but these items (many of which were sentimental) were clean and operable and worth alot more than the price I had them marked.

A couple of my group would cave (just to get rid of things) then think better of it while the item was being driven away. Spending times with my friends is always a pleasure, but this time we made cash instead of spending.

You did well not to cave in. I hate people that not only give ridiculous offers but then refuse to give up and believe that no means no!! Also I hate it when people pretend not to know the real value of something and try and persuade you that it is worth nothing :x I've had this happen to me before and the woman in question got quite snotty when I pointed out that she knew the real value as she had immediately looked for the makers mark in a specific place.....! One nil to me, ha!

A good trick to encourage buyers is to get a friend to look at your things as if they are interested in buying...always worked for me!
