Jules.
I have been having trouble with my eggport door leaking, the leak has been intermittant, & so Omlet have replaced the cube side & eggport door for me. Even so, with the new items I still get a bit of water through when I pour a jug of water over the eggport door ( at Johannes suggestion). Could you please have a go at pouring water ( with the back of the cube off so that you can see what goes on) so that it runs from the top of the cube side over the eggport, & let me know if any of you get leaking? I know this is an extreme test, & hopefully we will never get rain like this, but I want to know am I being fussy about the leak, or just unfortunate to get two leaky doors? My leak runs from the bottom of the door into the nest box. Thanks Edited September 4, 2008 by Guest
Electricbarbarella
OK, you had better appreciate this, (it is not like I have anything better to do today) there was a tiny leak down the left hand side of the egg portt, and I mean 1 run opf ewater, the rest was fine. Guest
Jules, for the amount of money one pays for a cube, i think you should expect it not to leak FULL STOP! Good luck with sorting it out.
Egluntyne
Am off to clean my non leaking cube (sorry ) and will carry out the Jules test as requested and report back. **Am back** With the back off, the two litres of water administered as directed glugged straight out along the channel and onto my feet. Nestbox remained dry. With the back on, a 2nd 2 litres glugged straight along the channels and out where indicated below. Nestbox remained dry. It must be positional. Gallina
I have just poured two litres of water around the closed eggport door of my Cube and most of it flowed straight into the nesting box. But I am not sure that this is a fair test: no water gets through my egg-port door when it rains.
Jules.
Thanks. Egluntine what do you mean by it must be postitional? The eggport door is sheltered from the worst of the weather as it is alongside the back fence, but there are lots of overhanging trees from the neighbour's garden which will drip onto my cube there. Gallina I do realise that this isn't a fair test of rain, but Johannes asked me to do this so that we could establish where the leak was coming from. I'm going to see how it fares in real rain, & hopefully it will be dry.
Egluntyne
I'm wondering if the "slant" of the Cube has to be just right so that the water does go down the channels. I'm sure Sheila fixed her leak by altering the position of the Cube. Why not PM her and ask.
Jules.
Egluntine I have no problem with the water going down the drainage channel from the join of the lid & the side of the cube,& out of the back of the cube where the retro fit kit is, this water is coming through the seal/join around the eggport door where it meets the side of the cube
Egluntyne
Aaah...I see. Am stumped. Sorry.

My Cube problem was where the water drained from the channel, and you're right, tilting it stopped the flow into the nestbox. I've not had an eggport door leak because the majority of the rain doesn't get that far & what does isn't leaking in.
Jules.
With the new side & eggport door I have it doesn't leak now- and it's had a good test with the crazy rain we have had this week! I'm really pleased as I was getting rather worried about the whole matter. Hurray for dry nest boxes
