sheik
This is funny, but slightly worrying too. Our chickens free range all day when we work from home, but we obviously check up on them by going out or by looking out of the upstairs window. The trouble with the upstairs window, is that they can see us by tilting their heads to one side. Not a problem you might think, but one day Luna saw us and flew up onto our gazebo, which is a good 7' high - our fences are only 6' It was very impressive how she did it though. She jumped onto the chair back that is almost off-camera, and then calmly flew up at a very steep angle onto the gazebo. We think she must have been looking at the pigeons that often perch up there, so she knew it was a safe roost if needed. Once she was up there she wasn't especially happy, and took a bit of time working out how to get down. Luckily she hasn't shown any inclination to jump anywhere since unless it is to get to food, but we're careful now not to be spotted for too long upstairs. /\dam
lisa33
We found Bobbi on the garage a couple of times. We eventually worked out that she was using the recycling bins, then the wheelie bin then the fence to get there.
dancing cloud
With the name of Luna, you can't blame her for reaching for stars
Ain't Nobody Here
Do you think it's a Columbine thing ? Maisie had me adding bits of trellis to a gate continuously till she just couldn't get over it .

Ain't Nobody Here
I'd love to get a small tree for her to jumo onto - maybe if we move house... I think I'll start a poll . "What's the biggest thing you've ever bought for your chickens?" Sheik ........ a house with a tree
sheik
You joke, but if I moved, the chickens would be quite high on our list of priorities /\dam
wombatally
Sheik - This has nothing to do with this thread although I am wowed by her athleticism! I looked at a good deal on a gazebo the same as yours but was concerned that it'd be difficult to store overwinter - do you leave yours up over winter? I was worried about it rusting. Thanks!! sheik
Ours has been up for a good three or four years. The wood isn't in perfect condition, but if I'd bothered to treat it then it would be fine I think. The metal seems OK too. It's handy in the British summer when you have a BBQ, as you can put a roof and sides on it. I don't ever take it down - too much trouble! /\dam
wombatally
Brilliant, thanks Sheik - I'll go and get it as it's on offer! Cheers
