buffie
I've come across this competition through the beat website (formerly the Eating Disorders Association) Growing old, grey or saggy. Media pressure, peer pressure, negative beauty icons or airbrushed magazine images. Size 0, size 20 and everything inbetween. Whether you're male or female, aged 10 or 110: if you have something to say about Body Image, we want to hear your stories. Stories that will inspire, encourage and reassure. Stories that could change your world. Your story can either be in the form of a theatrical monologue (a character speaking to the audience), or a duologue (two characters speaking to each other). The style of each piece is up to the writer, but each story should be no more than five minutes in length. If your story is chosen to be performed in the West End, you will receive full writing credits. You and a friend will receive VIP tickets to the West End show, including return travel to and from London and 5 star accommodation. Once at the event, you'll be treated like a star - you'll meet the celebrity performing your story and will take a bow with them onstage in recognition of your contribution to the evening. Your VIP pass will grant you entrance to the glitzy after-show party, where you'll mingle with the stars. http://www.bodygossip.org/competition So if you feel strongly enough about raising awareness about body/age acceptance why not give it a go Buffie x
Phonix
I wrote my english language A level coursework on this topic - that had to be a monalogue too. I bet if I read it back now though I'll think its awful lol It was the monalogue of a mother sat at the hospital bedside of her daughter who was critically ill due to eating peoblems. xXx
Snowy
My goodness Phonix, you should send it in! I often find if I go back and read old essays I am amazed at how intelligent I sound I think "did I really write that?". You may be pleasantly surprised! It sounds a very appropriate story for the competition. Go for it!
