piptiddlepip
Since I got the four chooks, my two cats have reacted in different ways. Violet, my calico, can barely stand to be around them and passes them at a run wherever possible, but my ginger cat Malachy has completely fallen in love with them and just wants to be their friend. He has gone from being horrified, to interested, to fascinated, and finally to wanting to be their best buddy. At first Agnes would chase him off, although the other three just ignore him, but now she seems to have realised that, although enormous, he's completely harmless. The other morning I was rounding them up to go into the pen before I went to work and Gytha decided to play silly beggars and wouldn't go in. Malachy watched all this from under the patio table, then, as she got near to the pen door, he neatly stepped over and headed her escape route off so that she was herded in. I said "Thanks!" and gave him a nice treat. He has yet to do it again, though!
mostin
What a cool cat! Both of my moggies are still at the stage of believing if they ignore the chickens they may go away. They do find find it hard to ignore the chickens when they are getting the attention though rather than the cats.
dancing cloud
That cat definitely deserved his treat . My two cats have never been that useful. Fat Puddy (maybe soon not-so-fat if the diet works) doesn't like the hens at all and won't go near them if she can help it. Loki has loved them from the start, but now accepts they won't play with him - after many attempts. He likes to go and sit in the garden with them, and can usually be found with Dandelion and Chance. Joy had a huff at him once and he now gives her a wide berth Maybe it's a male/female cat thing?
