Lapinou
Since the weather's been so wet, the garden has started to smell rather like a farmyard. We've bought some garlic powder to try and neutralise the smell of their poos a bit, and are thinking of ordering some bokashi bran as well, but, however much I search, I can't find out how much I should be putting in with their feed? They have pellets if that makes any difference! Also, doesn't the bran/powder all just sink to the bottom of the grub when you use pellets? Would we be better switching to bran? TIA
Yolky
I think the ratio is 5% of food. How are you? Has the baby arrived yet
GreenGirl
I bind mine together with a drizzle of cod liver oil, or as it was cold the other morning a teaspoon of Marmite in warm water, they loved it
Lapinou
Thanks Yolky - that ratio helps. How are you? Has the baby arrived yet Tired, fat, heavy...no it's still inside at the moment and seems to want to stay there for some time yet
EileenH
I give my two the bokashi bran as a treat by itself in a dish. They love it. I give them about a good tablespoonful and they nosh the lot. Is that too much? Can you o.d. on bokashi bran?
The Dogmother
Hello Clare *waves* I'm never very scientific in my dosing of food additives, just a handful of Bokashi per litre of pellets and a dab of garlic granules. If they don't eat it, then I tip what's left into a bowl, add more pellets and mix with water - they scoff the lot!
Ain't Nobody Here
I just chuck a load into the box I keep the pellets in (along with garlic powder and poultry spice) . No adverse effects to date, and their poos are lovely .
Egluntyne
I just sling a good handful into the feeder. I wouldn't describe their poos as lovely exactly....but they certainly don't smell.
Ain't Nobody Here
You're obviously not doing it right, then Egluntine .
