arwenskye
We were getting 3 eggs a day but now its only 2, I of my hens has not laid for a week! All 3 hens look perfectly healthy and happy and nothing has changed as far as I can tell so why has the production dropped? is it the weather? dancing cloud
No answers, but I've got 2 not laying as well, so have gone from 5/6 eggs a day to 3/4 . One produces the occasional softie and the other has produced nothing at all for nearly 4 weeks. She still goes in the nestbox, usually with another hen, and sits there with them until they come out. Maybe she's seen Chicken Run and thinks I'll not know the egg isn't hers ... Strange little beasties aren't they?
Egluntyne
You might be better off asking this in the Chickens section....it might get more views. It could be the weather. I'd check out the usual suspects. Have you examined them for lice and mites and wormed them recently? Do they free range? Are they having too many treats? Has one taken to laying elsewhere? Sandychick
Have they been wormed with Flubenvet? Mine had less and less eggs over a few weeks and then they stopped laying altogether. They seemed healthy but after a course of Flubenvet, they have been laying every day. It must have been worms that caused it. After they had been treated, I could tell the difference in their comb and wattle colours although they looked ok to me before. I was using verm-x but it seemed to be ineffective.
