sandyhas3chucks
I feel so rotten, picked up hole in neck hen to see if all still good & she abnormally struggled a bit. I didn't think I was holding her too hard. She pohed on me thats normal but she started grunting,so sat down to calm her & saw the others running of with the bits. I saw egg white on her pants & had a look. It muct be a prolapse as a previous posting put it, looks like a small boys willy protruding. I put her in bathroom(she used to sleeping in ther but has gone exploring on window ledge whilst I had a quick look here, went in & it looks redder but don't think she should be climbing about so popped her back in run with some treats! How long should I leave this before getting the glove on, is vaseline best or should I use some prep H, should I do nothing? Hope you are here Egluntine! Egluntyne
If it is still protruding, remove her from the other hens as they might peck it. I'd bathe it with tepid salt water, or water with a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in it and then attempt to push it back in gently, with a gloved hand, and vaseline or KY. If it has become very swollen, that it the time to use the Preparation H. I would keep her apart from the others at least overnight, and take her off layers pellets for a day or two...feed her weetabix and pasta and other bland stuff, to slow laying down and give her a chance to heal. Good luck.
sandyhas3chucks
thanks, will do ta. She is apart just now, had at least thougt of that, as know how the little bkighters will peck at anything especially red. bliney though, she is used to being handled most having been a disabled childs pe[list=]& never shown too much dislike for being handled. she had laid this morning, interesting the dif in a non bat though. eggs nice & smooth, brown, though she looks like 2 of others, goes off quietly to lay & gets up quietrly (a proper lady!) hope this isn't a portent of things to come. feel so awful poor love
