Can you wheel a cube with the run attached?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking at the details of the cubes but I can't work out how the wheel system works. Do you have to tip the cube and wheel it? So therefore can this only be done when it is separate from the run? Or do the wheels somehow get lowered so you can move it all as one?

Any enlightenment on this would really be appreciated as I am very puzzled as to how it all can be moved so easily?

Thank you.

There's a lever mechanism to raise the skirt above the wheels. It's not terribly easy to move (but that may be our fault, we have a lot of apples on the ground at the moment) but it's not too difficult either.

If you look at the picture in the shop there are two levers with handles coming out of the back. They have a narrow channel so they come through the mesh. You push them down with your foot and that raises it up.

You normally move it by holding it at the run end, rather than at the back end. It's then reasonably easy to balance.

I don't know how it would be with an extension though.

We have a really uneven garden, with lots of apples on the ground at the moment, and I invested in a pair of rollup garden tracks. These make it really easy, and I just roll them up and put them by the compost bins until I need them.

I bought mine from Lakelend, but I think they only sell them during the summer. I found the same thing here though

Wow that track is fantastic i didn't klnow they made anything like that. Will have to invest in one soon. My garden has terrible drainage and looks a right mess where weve been walking on it to get to the eglu. We cant put in a "normal" path as were in a rented house. Were allowed pets including chickens as the person we rent from is a vet! The roll up track looks ideal for us.

Ooh, I like the look of those tracks - something to put on my 'wish' list!

I have a Cube with one extension. I can move it a few feet on my own, with difficulty - but it is on fairlyuneven ground, and I too have a lot of apples around! I really need a friend to hold the other end if I'm going to move it properly.

We have VERY uneven ground [mole hills by the dozen]. To move our cube and run with extention we lower the wheels, OH raises the extention [with gloves, 'cos he says the wire hurts his hands  ] and then I push hard from the cube end. I do the pushing 'cos I don't like walking backwards over uneven ground. I always end up on mybottom :boohoo:

Easy peasy when you've done it a few times
