Tweety
I am worming my ex-batts with Flubenvet at the moment, so will not be using their eggs for human consumption. I was wondering if I can boil the eggs and feed them back to the girls?I hate to throw the eggs away and thought this might be an acceptable way of using them up. What do others do with their eggs in this situation?
Guest
there's no egg withdrawal period with flubenvet so, as long as you're dosing correctly, you can still eat the eggs. It should tell you this on the tub.
MedusA
Absolutely! No withdrawal period for Flubenvet. Personally, I even carry on eating them when they've been on Baytril. I know this is against advice, but I haven't come to any harm yet.
Tweety
I know that it says no withdrawal period on the tub, but there was quite a lot of debate on here not so long ago ( of course I can't find it now!) about Flubenvet and egg withdrawal, and it has put me off using the eggs for human consumption. Perhaps I should just ask if it is ok to give my girls boiled eggs, or will this encourage them to try eating their freshly laid eggs ( assuming that they are clever enough to make the connection!) ? Scooby
My girls sometimes get scrambled egg as a treat - they wolf it down! And no, they haven't made a connection yet
Hen Watch
I personally eat the eggs whilst girls are on normal dose of Flubenvet. I suppose this is a personal decision. But I would not eat eggs if I had to double dose for something like gape worm or if I had overdosed them in error. My chooks do eat scrambled egg. Usually when my son leaves cold left over bits on his breakfast plate. The chooks love it.
