maxhen
I remember years ago meeting a girl whp had spent all summer on a yacht (she had that kind of background!) and she hadn't used anything on her hair except water for weeks. I have to say her hair looked great. And as I had long hair at the time I was tempted... The nearest I got to it was backpacking that summer with my then dog Mutley from Bude to Lands End as a cheap holiday at the end of my first year of teaching - I was flat broke but I wanted a holiday. I cadged a small tent and off mutley and i went. For nine of the days i camped on cliff tops and field edges illicitly to try to save cash and so all i could do was 'wash' my hair in sea water. I can't tell you how good it felt when I treated myself to a camp site with hot showers. Three lots of shampoo and two conditioners later \i felt like me again. Bliss. Merryn
so all i could do was 'wash' my hair in sea water. Sea water! No wonder you couldn't wait for the camp hot showers. I think you should give your hair a chance with unsalted water. It really does work and your hair won't be stiff like it was....doesn't bear thinking of! maxhen
I know, I know. Seemed like a good idea at the time.... However it was a long time ago and my hair is short now... I love the feeling of clean tingly hair. But even if my hair doesn't really need it , I do psychologically.....
Diana1
Yeah I really like the idea of this no shampoo lark. Archie has a little bit of craddle cap despite only washing him in water on the recommendation of the health visitor. She said don't use any soap or shampoo when he was suffering from milk spots/heat rash. I have used shampoo about three or four times in his little life of 7 weeks ! and he goes and gets cradle cap (like dandruff but stuck on). Anyway I don't think I can take on any more challenges myself at the moment so I'm going to carry on washing my hair as normal until the time is right. Guest
I can't quite remember what I eventually learnt about cradle cap Diana. I have a feeling I used oil, olive oil or baby oil, and rubbed it into the scalp. I found the cradle cap gradually came off.
The Dogmother
I used almond oil Ginette
Guest
Oh good, that's reassuring! It suddenly seems a long time ago! I was pleased to discover, probably with the 4th baby!, that the oil worked much better than shampoo.
The Dogmother
Rubbing it in softens up the cradle cap so that you can pick it off easily without pulling off half their scalp
