quickcluck
Hi there i've had all my girls the same time, but my Amber Babette is just not developing a comb or wattles.... does this mean she will not mature and lay or just won't grow them? They are pets, so a not worried about the laying, just wondering if all is ok. thanks
likeastar--x
im not sure what kind of chicken that is but i have a kind of light sussex hybrid who was the same age as my other two but took a LOT longer to start developing, and even after she did her comb and wattles are very small because of the type of breed she is. is your chickens comb n wattles still pink? helenmb
I have an Amber who I bought at the same time as my Bluebelle and Silver sussex. Petula the is developing the most and has just started to crouch so am hoping for an eggie soon . Blanche my Amber is in the middle as far as comb growth and Esme my Silver Sussex is still way behind in the comb growth and colour stakes. However, she is much bigger than the hybrids. Do you know how old she is? My Amber is about 17 weeks old. Her feather colouring is changing a bit too so am sure Babette will be doing ok so long as she is feeding ok. quickcluck
when we got them they said they were all about 18-20wks. But it was obviously Babette was younger as she was a lot smaller.... The good thing is she is FOREVER eating and has visiably grown in size, so I am wondering if she was MUCH younger or will just be wattle and comb free
Gallina
My Amber Star doesn't have much of a comb. Not all combs are the same: there are seven different variations, depending on the breed you have, namely: Buttercup Cushion Pea Rose Single Strawberry V-shaped You can find pictures on the web: here are some, but there are probably better ones if you do a thorough Google search. jomaxsmith
My Rhode Star has never developed head gear but has been laying happily for nearly a year! Jo
Sandychick
My Amber Star didn't have much of a comb at 25 weeks, but she has suddenly decided to grow one! A red face and big red comb have just appeared really quickly........along with some nice big eggs She is still growing as well and now makes my Pepperpot look like a dwarf! Hope she stops growing soon or she won't fit through the eglu door
piptiddlepip
Our Aggie didn't seem to be developing for ages and I posted on here about it. Now we can see that her comb is coming along nicely and she has started crouching! So hang in there!
nikplus
Our amber is almost entirely combless, too, despite being the same age as our other girls. Perhaps it's just an amber thing.
