jomaxsmith
My neighbour's tree is being felled on Tuesday (it's rotten and a large branch nearly hit our car recently). I wondered about asking if I could have some of the chippings for the chicken run but remember someone on here recently saying they could heat up and catch fire. How do I dry them so I can use them? If it's too much hassle I won't bother asking but just thought it would be a bit of useful recycling! Thanks Jo
Sandychick
I don't see why not I severely cut back a big Hawthorn Tree in my garden - the chickens have perches made from the branches and the smaller stuff went through a garden shredder. The shredded chunks are great and I've scattered them about the chickens area for them to scratch about in. I'm sure you could make use of various bits of your neighbours tree
Egluntyne
It was me that mentioned them catching fire.......I think it happened because we left them in a huge heap for too long. Funnily enough I am having 12 trees reduced in height and tidied up tomorrow but this time I'm having most of it taken away and just a bit left for the girls to scratch around in.
