lonicera56
Help please! I have just started my first eggs in a recently acquired fan-assisted incubator. I have a humidity guage which indicates optimum humidity for chicken eggs at around 55 degrees. It is really hard to maintain this without returning to it every couple of hours to add just a few tiny drops of water. Otherwise it goes way over. If I go out for the day what do I do? Is it better that the humidity is higher than suggested, or lower? I so want my attempts to be a success & don't know what to do for the best. Grateful for any words of wisdomPP
bronze
Tends to be most crucial at the hatching stage. Before that some people run them dry so you should be fine.
chickenanne
Don't mean to sound rude, but are you sure the incubator is set up properly? It should be able to be closed up well enough to control the humidity better than that, surely?
