Has anyone made any - except the Blagger blogger of course - I think I'm right in saying that they are forum members too (according to a post in another thread)

 

Am about to start chopping my apples & grab a handful of crabapples off the tree too to add a little extra flavour, ready for a chosen few hampers this Christmas!

I'm going to have a go at this - thanks for posting it! I did sloe gin last year which went down all too well at our Christmas dinner party, but there's no sloes this year and this looks like an excellent alternative.

 

Have you done yours yet? I might even put a cinnamon stick in one of the bottles for a bit of extra festive flavour . I've emptied some salad dressing bottles (fridge broke ) so I'm going to use them as they look similar to the ones on the blog. Just need to get to tesco for some value vodka now!

Mine's sitting in the corner & being agitated regularly! I have several friends lined up for the first tasting!

 

I used russets as I had them left over from a scrumping session at a friend's house & they are going slightly brown in the jar, but I suppose that's to be expected?

 

I have managed to find enough sloes for 1.5 70cl bottles of gin - if I find any more in the next day or two, I'll chuck them in & top the jar up with the rest of the bottle.

 

I hadn't thought about a stick of cinnamon, may get another batch on the go, once Tesco get's the cheapy vodka back in - they'd sold out earlier in the week, how inconsiderate is that?!

 

Have been told where I may be able to find some bullaces, so will have to go there too & see what I can gather - am feeling quite virtuous with my early days of foraging!

Im trying two diffrent versions! Ones pear and ive added half a stick of cinnamon to the jar i've put it all in and the other is peach. they turn out ok.

When I drop James in the morning there is a tree with some red apples on it. Methinks a couple are heading home for Apple Scnapps. Which has always been a favorite of mine from my Germany days.

 

I might even use the 3 apples on my own tree to make some!!

Oooooh it's looking boozy in my kitchen nowadays! (says Penguinmad - sorry I forgot to add the quote so my post didn't make as much sense as it would have!! )

 

 

Mine is a vision of glass; filled with chutneys, jellies....and grog! And after an evening of Cubs and Beavers combined I am sorely tempted to crack one open....must resist though they won't have reached their full potential yet

I've made it, but have yet to taste it!

 

I have to strain Cinnamon's Cranberry Vodka today, so may just work my way round the other bottles too - just to make sure they are all working properly of course !

And as I hardly drink, it would be one hell of a hangover!

 

Thought I would get it all tested...sorry decanted tonight , but forgot I was out with some friends for a pre-birthday supper, having been out all day with some school chums of DS. I remembered when DH phoned me at 7.10 to tell me my friend who was picking me up had arrived....I was still 20 mins away from home DH to the rescue - he met me at the restaurant with a change of top, smellies & to pickup small boy to take him home to bed. The clean jeans & comfy boots had to stay. I felt like Mary Poppins, dragging vaguely suitable accessories & makeup out of my car & handbag to transform from scruffy mum to supper outing girl, with the aid of DH's offerings, I managed ok!! My friends can never believe what gems I keep in my car & handbag!!!

I don't think it is too late? I have just gone to sainsburys and bought their cheapest vodka and going to use some apples from our tree.
