Guest
just wondered because we've started a btach of pear wine, first time ever trying to make wine, and the juice in the fermenting bucket has gone from a lovely golden colour to a strange darkish greenish colour. We started it off last night, added the pectic enzyme and campden tablets etc. Does the enzyme stuff make it change colour? I'm wondering if it's gone 'off' or if it should be this colour? we've carried on and added the yeast and the nutrient anyway but would appreciate some advice... Richard T
I started wine making this year and have a rhubarb wine and an elderberry wine on the go at the moment, but they didn't change colour like your pear wine. I did a quick google but couldn't see anything and was going to suggest a home brew forum http://www.homewinemaking.co.uk/cgi/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=trouble;action=display;num=1223511330 but I see you've already thought of that . Let us know how it turns out.

Guest
well, it's now a pale yellow colour so I can only assume that's how it's meant to look. It's fizzing away nicely too T'row night it goes into the DJs
Guest
okay, Ian's put it into the demijohns now and it smells incredible, really yeasty! (well it would ) the demijohns (as well as the pears) all came from freecycle, how cool is that here's a pic, it looks like cloudy pear juice but will eventually clear, just needs to ferment for a few weeks now http://www.liverpoolpoet.talktalk.net/111008.1.jpg
Lesley
At least it's not green anymore....looks like it will be a good colour when it has fermented and cleared.
