alih
I am having a few of my trees felled/ cut right back and thought I might ask the man to chip them and let me have them back for the chickens - can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't be a good idea? Thank you.
Mrs G
I hope not - we get our wood chips from a arboriculturist friend, he has a mountain of it he lets us help ourselves too, environmentally friendly, cheep and convenient for both of us I would go for it, we've had our girls on it since for a few months now and no problems. Might be worth chatting to the man doing your trees and ask what he does, he might end up a useful supplier for you - cheeper than B&Q! alih
do you know that's such a good idea! He is a mate of my sister's and I am sure I could better b and q's prices...and I love the idea of my old garden trees being used for my chickens...was just wondering whether there would be some hidden terrible reason for not using it...thanks
melly264
Hi, I was just coming online to ask a similar question.......we have hacked back our neighbours lealandii (i have no idea how to spell that, sorry!) and I wondered as it was an irritant to humans weather it would be safe to use in the chicken run? Also if the greenery were not safe, but I cut that back and just chipped the trunks, would that be ok? And also... could I use either form as mulch around raspberries without damaging the fruit trees in any way? Sorry to pinch the thread, but it was so linked I thought I may as well Thanks Melly
