Jen&Rog
.. not even sure if that's what it's called; the vet today said that the new ex-batts are underweight in spite of all the loving attention they receive! She recommended feed that you give a grower (or a broiler.. can't remember which). Is it easy to get hold of? Jennie
jomaxsmith
You should be able to buy it where you get your layers pellets or mash from. Growers is usually given to young hens to build them up before they begin to lay. Jo
Christian
Growers mash or pellets contain slightly less protein than layers feed. I have 2 14-15 week old chickens who are on it at the moment. Most feed stockists will get it in for you. I have just ordered a 5kg bag for my two. Edited to change 'more' to 'less'
Egluntyne
My little ones are on it at the mo. I have to ask my supplier to order it in. It costs roughly the same as layers.
BeckyBoo
If you've only got 2 hens don't buy a bag (unless you can source a 5kg bag) I can only get 25kg bags and I happen to have a full one here. You're more than welcome to 5kg or so if you want - I've only got 4 chicks this time and they're never going to eat 25kg of the stuff. PM me if you're interested, we're in and out today but should be around most of tomorrow or I could always leave it out for you Mrs B
