Jewels
Last week in a runny chicken poo on the grass was a funny looking long white thing, I am not sure if it was a worm or just a long piece of grass root, they do pull my grass up by the roots. I have not seen any in their droppings in the cube or in any solid poos. Then this morning when I was poop picking around the garden I saw another runny poo with the same looking thing in it. I cannot tell if it is a worm or like I say a piece of grass root. It is not moving. Can anyone enlighten me what it might be and what the various worms look like. Should I worm them anyway just to be safe? I have had them since mid August and not wormed them yet. They are healthy and eating and drinking an laying. Thanks for your help
Egluntyne
Sounds like it I'm afraid. They don't always wriggle for long once out of the hen's body. I'd give them a course of Flubenvet to be on the safe side if I were you.
Jewels
Many thanks Egluntine I will do that.
Jewels
My girls ( I only have two at the moment) will not eat grapes but will eat raisens so was thinking could I give them a raisen each dipped in the Flubnvet? Can I still eat their eggs? I kinda don't want to whilst worming them but will feel awful throwing them away....such a waste. What do other people do? Egluntyne
There is no egg withdrawal whilst on a regular dose of Flubenvet. The raisin trick is worth a try.
Jewels
Raisin trick did not really work, they grabbed at them and kinda threw them about knocking off most of the powder, so this morning I gave them each a little bowl of human porridge with the Flubenvet mixed in. It worked, they each ate their own. Have seen no more worms today, hope I am giving them enough. Just a pinch (the end of a teaspoon handle) in it. Thanks again for your help. Egluntyne
I've never personally had success with grapes, sultanas or raisins tbh. I find 3 get seriously overdosed and others get none. I add it to the food. I have also added it to sweetcorn before now. They all get some that way. Best to rinse it and pat dry with a bit of kitchen paper first. mostin
I split the raisins open as the power sticks to the sticky inside and then they don't even know it's there. It worked like a charm for me.
