Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Hi all,

When I got home today I let my chickens out and one of them is running very peculiarly - kind of a bouncing skip - not a normal chicken run. Her walk is normal and her feet and legs seemed fine when I had a look at them but there is definitely something not right with the way she is moving when she speeds up.

Any advise would be much appreciated

Maybe she jumped on/off something and has sprained her leg? Keep an eye on her and see how she is tomorrow. Hopefully she will be ok in the morning.

One of my hens hurt her foot when she caught it in the run wire, and she had a limp too. I took her to the vet, who could find nothing broken, so just left it to heal by itself. It took about a week before she was back to normal, so I would give it a couple of days and see how she goes.

If it is a mild limp, I'd leave her, it will settle in time. I've had several hens sprain themselves one way or the other, and they were soon back to normal, though one did that three weeks.

Thanks for the reassurance, will see if it sorts itself out. She is still running rather oddly today but seems fine in all other respects.
