redfrock
Anybody have any idea how long ACV keeps once opened? Had mine for quite a while now and wondering if it is time to replace. Also ACV or lifeguard? I know they do slightly different things so is it worth alternating each week? Basic questions I know but my brain is mush at the moment
Guest
I think vinegar pretty much lasts forever. It's a preservative. What is the shelf life of Apple Cider Vinegar?ACV has a required 'official' shelf life of three to five years after the bottling date, however, experience has shown that the product is safe, usable and effective for an indefinite period if kept out of direct sunlight. source http://www.ostlerscidermill.co.uk/acatalog/Frequently-Asked-Questions.html I use a splash of ACV once a week-ish; it makes their gut less friendly to parasites, is antibacterial and also good for joints. I only use Life Guard if they're under the weather, as a tonic. It also helped with their feather growth.
Steve.
My livestock version has a best-before date on it. So does the version in Tesco's. I bet yours may do too ... just in really small writing. Mine get ACV all the time ...
The Dogmother
I also use both Claire, and have never worried about the ACVV as it gets used up well before the BB date. Having sadi that, I wouldn't worry to much about the date so long as you're using it within a reasonable time. I use Lifeguard (the best tonic IMO) in the winter and when they are moulting; they get it in their water once a week.
