BeckyBoo
Driving past the old Botany Barns site in Barrs Lane Knaphill today I noticed a chalk board sign for ducks chickens quail feed and supplies. Called in to find a small operation on a years lease at the old garden centre site. They breed on site and everything looked clean and healthy. Nice couple running it, failed to ask their names as I was on a complete time limit. Their feed is quite pricey especially compared to Rokers or Backhursts, BUT they do everything in 5kg and 10kg bags unlike Rokers etc where it's all 25kg bags. So if you only need a little or don't want to do a 20 mile round trip then it's very convenient. She knows her hens as well, and quail (next on my wish list ) Just so's you know, the more hens I can go and look at the better I say!! BeckyBoo
Just to add that I went back today (any excuse) and they're opening a gift shop at Christmas - local stuff like local watercolours etc etc and (wait for it) ALL MANNER OF CHICKEN RELATED ITEMS!! They reckon they will have all sorts of chickenalia, locally produced food (already taken them a sample of my lemon curd in!) So, a definite one to revisit I think! Mumpty
My friend who lives in Knaphill has just bought two more bantams from them to add to their collection. She told me about them today, so I'll pop over there. I need some more bits.
