4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

I'd forgotten how horrible it is to leave work in the dark, drive to the horse find him by torchlight, drive home and then have to tuck up ferrets and chooks ( 1st winter with the girls)by torchlight hoping the cats are already in the house.

 

But on the bright side tonight when I checked the nestbox there were 3 eggs 1st blue egg from Lav, so a nice combo of a brown , cream and little baby blue egg,

 

Not a bad start for this time of year I suppose

its good that your lot are still laying (mine have stopped - 2 moulters and 2 copycats ) so that's a good sign.

 

I feel for you not being able to see your horse, ferrets etc.

 

I think im in the minority as I love winter, enjoy coming home from work and closing the curtains, lighting some candles and cosying up for the evening. (I like the cold weather too!).

Brrrr! Cold too, innit? I got home just before dark today, having managed to slope off a bit early, but it won't be a regular occurrence. I nipped back out at 7 and shut the cube door. I usually leave it open, but it is frosty tonight - snow is forecast for tomorrow, for heavens sake

I'm interested to see you have a first egg today - I am not really expecting my girls to start laying til spring now, but maybe there's still hope?

Congratulations on your first blue egg .

 

I'm just getting used to tucking the girls in before we've had our tea, rather than as we're going to bed ourselves .

 

Soon we'll hardly see them at all .

Last night was my first night of going home to find my girls already in bed - I realised then just how much I'm going to miss those little faces looking in the window over the next few months .

 

On the plus side, both cats were really snuggly - only because they were cold, but I'll take the love wherever I can find it
