Another Courier rant. Sorry folks...

Recommended Posts

Blooming couriers.

OH has upgraded his phone recently, it was despatched next day and should have arrived on Monday. Nothing, no card through the door.

On Tuesday OH checked the online tracking and discovered it had been delivered to a neighbour and signed for in a surname we didn't recognise. The courier company had no record of which house they delivered to. They suggested we knock on all the doors in our (very long) road to find the parcel  .

We had to check the electoral register to discover that there is a person with that surname in the street - 100 yards away, but in our street nonetheless.

The person who apparently signed for the parcel was not at home on Tuesday evening, nor Wednesday evening, nor are they at home today and they have not bothered to bring the parcel to our house. We have never met and I have no idea if they are trustworthy!

Today a separate parcel arrived via a different company and was kindly left under my car by the courier. It was dry (just) when I got home, but it was a good thing I spotted it because I could easily have crushed it backing the car out of the driveway. hardly a secure place to leave it, either.

Is there such a thing as a reliable courier?

no....

I waited in a total of 8 days for delivery, collection of a faulty one and re-delivery of a baby play pen.....on different weeks...

thanks goodness i was on maternity leave..and my recompense ?? £5 argos voucher..

Tesco Direct courier (not the groceries) dont deliver...and neither do the courier for Toys R us...

When I managed a computer shop, all the computers were delivered from a central point...they did make some deliveries and collections from the stores, and we often had to contact them....

they would change monthly, or the driver would...the new driver saying the previous one had been sacked...

the new company saying the previous one had lost too many..

some of my colleagues woudl go to the local depot looking for lost customers PC's and one found 20....undelivered, and not there either apparently.....the company just didnt want to deal with the deliveries !!

!!Particularly a problem around Christmas...

Around Christmas the company sales started to fall off... I know for a fact we had started to say we didnt deliver, at least 10 days before christmas, as one year we were promised deliveries for christmas for our customers, and they didnt bother sending them out..Just left us to deal with irate, furious, bereft and violent customers...(honestly we had them all, but it was understandable)

the next few years after that, we sold nothing in Christmas week.....or told them (customres) they would get it after new year......no matter what the company said...

sorry to give them all a bad name....but I've had so many bad experiences too...and recently...

Omlet wwere good though...came a day earlier (and i was in ) :-D

I recently sent an item of great sentimental value by Royal Mail Special Next Day delivery. When it did not arrive an investigation was begun by Royal Mail. Next day the post man rang my mums doorbell and said he had found the item on the doorstep, it having been there all night and having been left by the relief post man. It was in full view of peple passing by. maybe the swindon folk are just honest. As it was not delivered on time Iam awaiting a refund of the postage and an apology, if it had been pinched it would have been irreplaceable.

We never seem to get decent couriers either

A parcel from Cotton Traders never arrived even though it had been despatched. I phoned and they contacted the courier while I waited - it had apparently been delivered 10 days previously

A replacement was sent out......it didn't arrive. Phoned again to be told "the courier had tried to deliver it yesterday" - I was in all day! I left to pick up grandchildren and returned 25 mins later to find a bag by the bins. Our bins are kept right at the end of the drive, by the main road. We then had a good look around and found the original bag near to the bins but well on its way into the deep storm culvert which takes the stream under the main road  It had been there for weeks!

Don't ask me why I've placed another order with them  - it was despatched on Nov. 5th but never arrived. I phoned today and was told that the couriers said "left by bins".............. on our bin collection day  We'd been checking every day in case the courier did it again. Somebody has had an early Christmas present....a couple of pairs of hiking boots and a waterproof jacket and a pair of shoes  The order has been sent again and a complaint made to the couriers.

It can be difficult to find our farm but once there we have an easy to open gate and a drive about 150 metres long - it curves and we can't see the gate from the house.

............and we have a sign on the gate saying "Please Close The Gate".....and another one further up saying "Caution! Free Range Children and Animals".................but they always leave the gate open

The postman is brilliant - he always closes the gates on his way in and out and leaves any parcels safely even if we're not in to sign for them.

All of them will leave stuff on my doorstep EXCEPT DHL - its very safe, cant be seen from a road and actually there isn't even a pavement outside the end of the drive. Anyone seeing a parcel on our step would be at least halfway down our drive. I've left my bike there for months now.

Of course DHL happily left parcels on my doorstep when I lived on a really busy street in BASILDON! Goodness knows why nothing was ever stolen. Oh and they were exam papers too - from the local high school!!!

Sometimes i have courier trouble - it's when they can't find our house. Generally I just try an order from people who don't use DHL.

Absolute best are Royal Mail - our postie is a star - and if it needs signing for - it still gets delivered!

Our postie takes any parcels to the local post office (about 10 mins away on my bike) rather than take them back to the sorting office (the other side of town). One of the courier companies delivery drivers for our area lives just up the road and pops a card thro' saying give her a call and you can pop to her house to pick it up!
