BHWT Lancashire Rescues - Home Farmer Magazine

Recommended Posts

Yesterday, Martin and I, along with the other stalwart helpers, assisted Adele, the Lancashire BHWT Coordinator, on what was I believe the last of her rescues for 2008.

I would just like to thank Adele for all the hard work she puts into her work for the BHWT and for always providing her helpers with a lovely hot lunch on the day. What a wonderful lady she is :clap::clap:

Yesterday was a double rescue - 508 girls rehomed! The reason for a double rescue will be explained in a future issue of the BHWT newsletter so look out for that.

I just wish that Adele had warned me that we were going to be joined by Ruth from the Home Farmer magazine, who was coming along to do a piece about the rescue. Isn't it awful when you find yourself in the firing line of a camera without the aid of a comb and your lippy

It was nice to meet Ruth as I have subscribed to the magazine from issue 1 and always find lots of really interesting articles in each edition. If only I had the time to try out all the great ideas in it.

Ruth spent the afternoon with us and was very enthusiastic about the BHWT re-homing work. Look out for her article in a future edition of the magazine.

I also solved a few of my "what to buy someone for Christmas" quandries. I know of a couple of friends who would love a subscription to the Home Farmer.

All in all a successful day :D

I have just "discovered" Home Farmer Magazine as well. I bought it on an impulse this month. It's very good and full of interesting information, not full of woffle, as some magazines can be.

I am tempted to take out a subscription! Especially as there's going to be an article on a rescue of battery hens in it.

On behalf of all of us thank you for your kind words regarding the rescues.

As to the magazine, I love the concept of of it .... that even if you only have a tiny garden you can live the lifestyle of the Home Farmer.

I am always a lost cause on the day it is delivered. Martin knows he will get little sense out of me till I have read it. He doesn't mind too much though as there are always some nice recipes to try out on him.

Subscription is a good idea as it is not easy to get hold of. Ruth was explaining the difficulties and HUGE costs involved in getting shelf space in one of the big supermarkets. It must make it so difficult for a new magazine to get going.

Hi Bronze,

I was pleased with the article. I think it gives a very good representation of what is done and yes, it is always a moving day for us all.

As to names and who is who .....

The wonderful Adele is the lady crouching down, in a pinky coat on the first photo.

I am, Pam, the one in the navy top with my hand on my hubbies shoulder on the first photo - he is Mr Muppet!

I won't identify the other helpers by their Avatars as some people like to be known just as that.

I thought this months HM was brilliant. So much of interest in it ... apart from us
