crazygal
I'm posting for a friend who has a chicken that has got an isolated bald patch on its chest. Its behaviour is completely normal, feeding, laying, red comb, etc, but as a relative newbie chicken keeper myself I don't know if this is just a moult? The chicken is probably younger than a year, so is that usual for it to moult? Her other 2 have not got bald patches. I've been reading through the stickies on chicken health and can't find anything that exactly matches- would a moult be so localised?? If anyone has any suggestions for me to give her I'd be most grateful.
Christian
I know that one of mine was pulling out feathers from her breast when she was slightly broody. You couldn't notice unless it was very late afternoon and her crop had pushed teh feathers to one side. I'm sure it is nothing to worry about
crazygal
Thanks for the reply Christian. As none of my chickens seem to be moulting I wasn't sure what to tell her!
