Chickpea
Any ideas for homemade decorations? We've done some paper chains but need to get our tree decorated now (its only a little one!) and like the idea of having made them ourselves, any ideas will be much appreciated! Going on a walk around Blenheim Palace tomorrow so will be on the look out for any nice natural pine coney things.
Chickvic
Take a look at this thread... viewtopic.php?f=32&t=36019 Nice and easy to make too!
bluekarin
They are lovely! I'm going to have a go at them! I was going to suggest things like cinnamon sticks and dried fruit slices tied with raffia; collect pine cones and decorate with glitter or fake snow (got some in Paperchase). Karen & co.
I have sliced up my oranges today to put them to dry before hanging them with rafia from the tree either with star anise cinnamon sticks or plain. Pine cones look lovely as they come or sprayed gold or silver. Salt dough rolled out thinly and cut into star or other festive shapes, a little hole put in with a straw and then left to dry slowly, and hung on the tree too Karen x
Lesley
I've just posted a gingerbread biscuit recipe in All Things Nice - you can make biscuits and tie them with ribbon.

A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Mostly this evening I will be making popcorn to string on to a needle and thread to make big long chains to hang up or wrap round the tree. Plain popcorn (popping corn kernels) costs about 70p for a normal bag or less than £2.50 for a whopping big bag. I've also got some red felt and cut out stars, hearts, stockings, trees and cones (It's a German/Scandy thing to have a cone filled with sweets or whatnots) and will be blanket stitching them and maybe lightly padding them out to hang on a string or on the tree.
