ruby
Hi, I am sure I have seen something on here before aboput chickens chucking their food out of the feeder, but I cant find it. Our two monsters are pushing the food out of the feeder and onto the floor. They are currently on a mixture of layers mash and pellets, our local supplier can be a bit tempermental wiht the pellets so switching to mash which they seem to prefer and can always get. how do we stop them doing this!! jlo
If you find out - can you let me know? I just bung a cat litter underneath and try and rescue some that way. As far as I know, chooks will chuck out the food!
tom123
Mine did this all the time with their grub so I placed 2 big pots underneath the grub ,with some bricks around so they don't fall over, and so far this has worked. Will try and get picture tomorrow! Tom
splodge88
One of ours did this when we first got them...but she stopped on her own. Hope you're as lucky
mother hen
Our two monsters are pushing the food out of the feeder and onto the floor. how do we stop them doing this!! Hi Ruby, when my eglu was set up I was advised to put the Grub slightly higher up, at about head height. Both of my girls were extremely messy eaters to begin with but now I've adjusted the height of the Grub hardly any food ends up on the ground. farrowy
Yes ours do this too - they like to push their pellets onto the floor and peck at them there. Popping a small tray under the grub seems to have worked OK
wombatally
You could get one of the green plastic traditional feeders from ebay and use a short bungee to hang it from the run roof - I do this and it works well, that's for pellets though...
