Rubyismyduck Posted January 5, 2009 Share Posted January 5, 2009 i'm not sure when my Mallards will lay eggs but i dont know if they will hatch into ducklings do mallards lay normal eggs? we have a drake. but if there are eggs and they dont sit on them, what shall i do, i cant afford omlet incubators and can i build one myself? i would like ducklings very much and will do anything Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Lewis Posted January 11, 2009 Share Posted January 11, 2009 I'd assume that because you've got a drake some of the eggs will be fertile. Do you want more ducks, and do you have the space? The ducks could go broody themselves and hatch them, or you could incubate. I made an incubator last summer, and hatched some quail chicks out of it. I'd agree with Lesley, that you should buy a book and have a good look on the internet. If your interested, the link to my blog is here. I made mine out of wood and chose to turn the eggs manually.
