Margalot
My local pet shop does an anti peck spray for parrots and caged tropical birds.......do you think this will be ok for Hens? I wanted to pick it up today as Bon bon had made poor old Gingers bottom bleed. i read on it that it has to be sprayed daily. Or should I wait and get the one on Omlet shop.............does it work anyway?
Mollystar
Try Tea tree oil mixed shaken up with water, it seemed to work for me last time, plus it helps the girl heal
hanson
I bought the anti-peck spray from Omlet and it seemed to do the job. I can't comment on whether your spray is suitable or not....sorry
stoice
I didn't have much luck as I had quite a determined feather plucker. Now, Ukadex on the other hand....
chickencam
I have tried it without much success, mine are now all fitted with bumper bits from the Wernlas Collection.
chelsea
we tried tea tree, purple spray and even daily bandages over the affected area (which the evil pecker cleverly pecked off!) ........ the only thing that worked on our Maran was..... Ukadex It smells absolutely revolting (you've never smelt anything quite like it ) but its well worth it We combine the purple spray (to discolour the area) with the foul smell of the ukadex = no pecking. Redwing
I bought some from a pet shop and it was fine and worked well but the bullying was quite minor so I guess it wouldn't stop a very determined pecky hen! I have just braved the cold and spiders and gone to the shed to find it to see what it was called it's Johnsons Anti Peck Pump Spray and the bottle is white with a mainly blue label with a pic of three birds on It will get on your fingers when spraying it so wash your hands before eating crisps!! Margalot
Oh thank you all! especially going to the shed to have a look for me! I bought the spray and tempted them over with some grapes to get their botts! Gosh it stunk! never mind not pecking, I wouldnt want to share a coop with those 2 hens tonight It was like gone off garlic and other nasty stuff! Dont know if its really worked yet, but will have another spray today...........poor hens first they have sore bottoms now they have to contend with hen BO! Seriously dont think I would get my bottom pinched If I wore that eau de cologne but anything to save my poor little henpecked sweeties.
