ails
Our Eglu arrived Saturday morning, was erected in record time and by mid afternoon we had selected 3 chickens and brought them home to take up residence. One thing I have been wondering about is the best way to give the chickens grit - I have just been sprinkling some on the floor of the run which they appear to have been pecking at but is it better to put in in a dish, mix it in with the pellets or possibly get another grub feeder from omlet to put it in? I await guidance from all those experienced chicken keepers out there
Chillicat
I use a stainless steel bird feeder, which hooks onto the bars of the run. Most pet shops sell them. Its like a bowl that sits in a circular holder. If you make a circle by putting your fingers and thumbs together, its about that big!
alet_chicken
Hi. my chickens have a dedicated grit feeder. We use a Grub for this, as we had an extra one lying around from when we got our Eglu secondhand; buying a new one just for grit is probably overkill Like Chillicat said, any feeder should do nicely. C&T
Ours have an old kitchen cheap plastic small pot (the sort that can hold a couple of egg yolks or something, but not much more), that I put a couple of holes in and attached to the run with cable ties. So far has worked a treat
Ain't Nobody Here
Same here, a little coop cup which attaches to the run . That way you can see how much they're getting through and it's easy to top up.
Egluntyne
Mine have a plant pot full, from which they help themselves.
