confusing pooh

Recommended Posts

I posted in chicken clinic saying my chickens had diarrhea and that i've now put them on course of worming stuff. they are perfectly well in themselves and the reason fo posting on here is that i'm completely baffled. :?

yesterday when we let them out they did brown runny big splats of pooh (not all of the hens) so we started them on flubervent (sp) and also poultry spice was added to food but as the day went on most of pooh seemed normal. This is the part where i'm confused cos thought the problem had gone away but the very same thing has happened today........big splats of brown runny pooh first thing this morning and now i can only see normal pooh and my hens seem perfectly normal. Has anybody else had this with there hens?

I did...

Baffled me too! Following advice on this great forum I wormed them, changed their food (they really didn't like the omlet pellets) and cut out treats. The pooh then changed to normal.

I then slowly re-introduced treats, I have since noticed that Sweetcorn does give one chicken the runs. So while they really love it, they only get a couple of pieces once in a while now - and hanging a whole corn on the cob in the run is a definite no-no!

Good luck!

I am going to move this to the clinic section, but the general advice I always give for chickens with runny poo is the following:

Feed only dry feed, no treats or veggies, Give pellets and Bokashi Bran

Give a mix of Bokashi Bran and live yoghurt

Add ACV and Avipro to their water

Worm them

If it's still a concern, then take a poo samople to the vet for analysis

I hope that this helps clear it up.
