Hen? Cockerel? Chicken even? Shelley has a new home

Recommended Posts

Hi Jan

As I said in PM, sorry if he's a boy. Now I look at the pictures I can see it in the tail. How did I not notice before. The guy was so positive the chook was female, I guess I got carried away in the excitement and believed him (well, you would - he's got hundreds of chooks so he's supposed to know these things). I hope he wasn't just trying to fob boys off on me. But I'm really pleased you've got him sorted - it would be a shame to have to 'do the deed' coz he's quite a weird but wonderful looking bird.

I'll have to borrow the camera from work and get some pictures of mine up for everyone to 'vote' on. I'm praying that mine are all girls . I'm not sure about the developing tail on one of them :? .

Nicola.

We have been to the vets. The toe isn't broken. The ligament has gone on one side of the toe and that's why it keeps moving off to one side. He said that she seems ok but that I could have the toe removed if I wanted to.

He is now in the back garden with Haggis and I think that we can now safely say that he is a he...he has just taken a fancy to Kylie my Brahma miniature and tried to mount her. She was not very impressed with his advances and attacked him.

Shelley, as we called him (Frankenstein chicken) came with me to Little Hen Rescue today. He was rehomed by 10.30 to a lovely home with a man with land at the back of his house. Shelley will have the run of the man's garden and there are no neighbours to worry about.
