What a fantastic picture. I love the feathering on the chicken looking away and the one looking at the camera looks really indignant

 

One of my gingernuts decided to be brave and walk through the snow, she obviously didn't realise how deep it was and flapped herself under a garden chair. The other gingernut panicked at loosing sight of her and flapped to where she was. They both sat under the chair and refused to move. I thought I was going to have to pick them up but its amazing what a handful of corn can do.

Ours initially flapped and jumped like crazy in the snow until they realised that if they stood still it wasn't too bad after all... and that's what they did until we had to pick them up to put them back in the Eglu.

Our girls wouldn't go near the snow which I was quite surprised about. We even carried them from the run to a patch of grass where the snow had melted thinking it would be a nice change and they didnt move off it! Then come tea time, they started bokking really loud, until we carried them home again

My girls have been the same, they're so not impressed! However today, 2 of my girls finally plucked up enough courage to have a llittle explore outside the eglu run. The one that didn't venture out seems to be a little under the weather at present, I'm not too worried as she's eating and drinking, I just hope she perks up in a day or two.

It looks as if we could be getting a load more snow tomorrow - poor henny pennies they are getting so fed up with the white stuff!

 

By the way the photos are super, I wish mine could stay still and pose for the camera like yours do!

I s"Ooops, word censored!"ed an area of snow away including some nice perches they sit on, and showered it with pearl barley. I had the door open all day but they have refused to come out, even for treats. I only got Abbie and Katy a few cm out. Both sneezed and Abbie went back and shook, or might have been a shiver.

 

Was hoping for nice chickens in the snow pictures, but they give us dirty looks anytime we suggest it.

I managed to get Fifi and Anna to venture out by laying a trail of bread crumbs. Di was having none of it for at least 40 mins, but then, clearly feeling lonely by that point, took some very tentative steps outside and onto the (frozen solid) snow. None of them looked particularly comfortable with the idea, and eventually they ended up under the shelter of the hedge, sharing about 1m2 of grass. They would have had more room if they stayed in the Omlet run after all!

such great photos. My 3 gingernuts wouldn't come out on Monday morning, but by lunchtime I think they were bored so they sent one out to do a recce, then when nothing bad happened, the next one came out and so on....

 

6 days later....the snow is still here, and the chickens follow a well trodden path over to the patches of grass under the slide, and under the trees, occasionally daring to stand in the snow under the bird feeder on the off chance they might get a dropped peanut or two
