Just after i purchased extra plastic roosting bars thinking they came in wood they need to update so people know! i spent money i didn't need to suppose at least i will have spares  still waiting on those to arrive though.

Pleased to hear you didn't need an op after all :) . That must be a relief :) .

Congratulations on getting your (purple eglu) . It was new though, wasn't it? It shouldn't have scratches and dirt on it :? . I would phone Omlet (even just to let them know, if it was the couriers that did it).

Could you try phoning and cancelling your roosting bars order? Explain that you didn't realise it came with plastic ones already.

(You must have sold a heck of a lot of cakes to reach your eglu target that quickly  .)

I hadn't opened the run box and it suddenly dawned on me it might be in there and it was i will just keep the others as spare they might scratch them beyond recognition lol the shade came with bungee cords i didn't think it did i was certian i read it didn't because it was a refresher kit so great news all round :D i can use both shades when it is really sunny although they will be free ranging the back garden plenty of bushes and trees for them to destroy.

I had noticed a picture on flickr share looked scratched up aswell and they said it was new they are really heavy so i guess it is impossible to get them into packaging without anything although the white dirt kind of "Ooops, word censored!" on the eglu tray on the writing bit bit dodgy it looks fine anyway it's gonna get scratched up

I am checking out where to get chickens from i might have to travel miles to get them so hope my sister in law is in a good mood lol i hate asking people for a lift but needs must and all that jazz i have decided after seeing how massive the eglu actually is and reading requirements to get 3 medium birds and a wee silkie just for comic value lol they make me giggle everytime i see their pics lol it does say you can have upto 4 medium birds and i am going for hybrids for good laying and silkie coz it looks mad lol

have you decided what type of birds you are getting mags?

I probably won't get my hens till end of april (for my b'day) or beginning of may guess really it will depend on when i get money ready and what they have available.

they are charging £15 pounds a bird so thought that was good buy

want them now

There is a lassie in biggar with a small holding sells pol pullets for £10 but they are hi lines only i think i will be heading to longniddry aswell gonna phone them today find out what they have my kids have gave me selection they want i bet they dont have any of them lol i want hybrids rather than pure breeds for guid laying but we are getting one silkie just for :) £15 a bird not so bad all year round birds is charging from £18-£25 for birds as far as i know a light sussex is a hybrid and they are charging over the average price for them so give them a miss a shame as well they are probably the closest to me x

I weighed out odds of each breeder i foudn within my reach which was all year round birds / deanbank and george ogilvie and i found the lady in biggar offers better choice and value for money pure breeds are £18 but if you buy as chicks they are cheaper and the pol hens are only £10

I have put in my order and all things going well i will get some 10 week old babies in 7 weeks they are 3 wks old today they will come into lay a couple of month afteri get them it's worth the wait to get to know them as chicks they will probably be quite big still i am not certain about sizing of 10 wk old babies

we are getting either 2 hi lines a white star and a white silkie OR

3 baby white stars and a baby silkie (but the hens haven't came ito lay yet for these ones so will get in about 4 months or summit)

so excited wee babbies.

Just need to order my wood chips and set out eglu and run and buy in some feed woohoo

I found george ogilvie had the heavy breeds i had never heard of a mendlesham blue either they look lovely but no silkies here either :(

Am gonna order my rearing pellets and layers pellets soon and hubby ordering me woodchips for back we dug out all the stones from that area yesterday (back and neck killing me) but ready to get sorted i just needed a nudge to get sorted  I even got my beware of the chickens sign ordered

thats braw news mags!!! yeah hard to wait once you have it isn't it lol I also found it was so much bigger when it arrived than any picture had made it out to be I was convinced it wouldn't house 4 medium birds but i think it just might having seen it up close and personal.

I bought colourful grit boxes from ebay and they arrived today as well as my beware of the chickens sign you gotta have one of those :D
