kerrie
I'd love to gro some raspberries this year-sick of the silly prices I pay eah week from the supermarket. Can anyone recommend where to grow them? I've got pots on the patio of different shapes and sizes and could build a raised bed prob 1m square-would any of these work? Snowy
We've been talking about the cheappacks of fruit canes from Aldi and someone did mention that they had stuck theirs in pots as they had no room in the garden. They did really well! And you won't lose much if they fail!
Redwing
As raspberries stay in the same soil for life it would be worth potting them in some really good quality compost, John Innes (or equivilent) no 2 or preferably 3 would be best. Each year gently remove the top layer of compost and replace it with fresh (called 'top dressing') Use a nice big pot Good luck!
moochoo
Raspberries are really forgiving and will grow well everywhere. The only problem with pots is that they'll quickly get pot bound and this will restrict the amount of fruit you get. If you start them in a large pot you should be fine for a few years though. The pound shop canes are good too.
