Tombull10
Does anyone know how long omlet delivery usually takes?? I picked up 3 ex batts a week ago. Suddenly, the most timid of the 3 girls is being bullied. I ordered anti peck spray on Wednesday evening. Any idea when it'll arrive as I can't bear seeing her bullied!! Failing that is it something that pets at home stock?
chelsea
omlet delivery from the shop is usually pretty quick, I wouldnt be surprised if you dont receive it today. Lets hope so!
poachedegg
Is she being bullied by both the other 2? If it is only 1, then could you put the bully in a crate within or near to the run for a little bit to give the other a rest? Whereabouts are you Tombull10? As I have a dog crate you could borrow if necessary. One of ours was being bullied, to the point where she wouldn't come out of the house, so we put lots of little pots around the eglu with food in it - like these: She still gets an odd peck, however nowhere near as bad as it was. cordelia
i would say take her out straight away, even if you have to set something up in a garage to keep her in.... Pet shops do Parrot/budgie/aviary anti peck spray (Johnsons)...I've seen it in several..but in the meantime...seperate them as soon as you can...if its relentless we put our newbie in a large dog crate covered over with a tarp in the summer of course, and at night enclosed her in a large cat basket (inside that crate)...with my spare roosting bars in...and that door closed too....so she was safe.... I covered it with blankets for warmth too.... (we then swapped chickens in that set up...and took out the pecking chicken and kept her there for over a week..until the other two got used to each other.... however being winter....try something in a shed or garage... Chillicat
Go to a pet store and pick up the Johnsons Anti Peck Spray.........works a treat, even though its for caged birds. We had our Omlet hens a couple of weeks and kept them in the run. Three of the PP's picked on the biggest and unfortunately pecked her to death before I could do anything....... I was at work during the day Within a week the 3 started on the other and I covered her wound in a violet wound spray (for horses) and sprayed her back feathers with the Johnsons Anti Peck Spray....................and we saved her. She is now at the bottom of the pecking order, but a real chatty chicken. Get some as soon as you can and give them as much space as possible. Good luck! quickcluck
How are things going? Any better?
Tombull10
Thanks for the concern guys. The anti pecking spray arrived today and things seem to be calming down slightly. The addition of 2 more feeding areas seems to have helped a little aswell. If things don't improve i'm planning to remove the bully for the afternoon to let poor little Carrie get a break from it all but hopefully if i keep smothering her in anti peck spray the bully will get the message!! I never thought my hens would be so vicious!!
Tombull10
By the way poachedegg, I'm in Wythenshawe. Thanks very much for the offer. I may well have to take you up on it!!

No problem, just let me know if you need it. Hope things are a little better today with the spray Lily is still pecking at Daisy, but one offs rather than relentless - so I will leave them to it for now and hopefully it will eventually calm down.
