fluffyknickers
Hello all, we are sick to death of pooh in the garden. I have no idea if its fox and/or cat but it causes such a problem as the kids cannot go out there until I (or husband in truth) clear it up and its disgusting. Also when I get the chickens I do not want foxes or cats in the garden. I have been googling deterents and there are so many but I do not know what is best plus dont want to get something that the chickens could hear. There are a few fox and cat deterrents like this one http://www.primrose-london.co.uk/mains-repellent-p-167.html Any good? Also does a Foxwatch deter cats as well? Thanks you are always so helpful. x
Patricia W
I don't think a Foxwatch affects cats but it does affect dogs I believe- but someone more knowledgeable than me about them will give more details, I'm sure. I do know that the best way to keep cats out of your garden is to get your own cat! They keep other cats out and in our experience are very clean. Cats are normally very careful to bury their poo - just don't have an uncovered sandpit. We've had them for years whilst the children were growing up and cat poo has never been a problem - unlike dog poo... and now chicken poo.. Don't know about fox poo - thank goodness. jennybrom
hi mazzyc, i've had a sonic cat deterrent for about a year now - from that site but not the fox and cat one. I think it put the local feral cats off for a bit but not next door's cats - the habit was a bit too ingrained! It is revolting - we've just had a week away and I had to spend a good half hour today removing the poo - it's not buried very well and they tend to go on the lawn a lot as well - especially when the soil is hard with frost! - very gross, lots of gritting (and gnashing) of teeth and a few choice words! I've seen them in the garden when the sonic thing is going off and it doesn't seem to bother them at all so I've gone back to leaping out with a water pistol - they start running as soon as the back door opens! I've heard that foxes are put off by human smells especially men - one of my friend's gets her husband to 'mark' the garden by having the odd wee out there and I'm going to try OH's hair as he shaves his head so I have a plentiful supply! jen
