Mrs Webmuppet
Dec means decrease either knit 2 together or purl 2 together as appropriate (as in dec 1 stitch) Hope this helps..

Mrs Webmuppet
No problem................the lovely lady in my local wool shop always reads any pattern through before I buy it to make sure I understand all the abbreviations, before she even considers letting me near the wool dept. ( she is about 150 years old and I am one of the younger customers )

Mrs Webmuppet
I bought a pattern the other week that had cables running down the front ( it was a Sirdar pattern and they are pretty idiot proof)...........she was very concerned that I might not be capable ( I have been knitting on and off for about twenty odd years!) she took some convincing that I was more than capable! One of my friends wants me to knit the same jumper for her little'un so I wrote on a piece of paper exactly which wool and how many balls she needs to get..............and told her to hand the piece of paper to the lady in the shop.............she hasn't felt brave enough to venture in there yet! Plum
Love it - you have to earn the right to be a customer. Old fashioned values eh? There's not many wool shops around now.
