Food allergies - anyone else egg/dairy/soya

Recommended Posts

Poor wee lass. If you can grow some of your own veg she may get more into eating veggies and you can then do lots of tasty dishes. I have just been given a book by Carol Klein (off the tele) "Cook your own veg" and it has some great recipes. I also remember when I was working in London that an African doctor (I worked in a hosptial) told me that in some parts of Africa if children couldn't drink milk they were given yams to eat - not sure how that went in terms of nutritional substitution, but worth a go (I think they liked the sweetness). Good luck.

Poor little girl! - my granddaughter had intolerance to dairy/eggs/wheat but has outgrown all but the wheat intolerance. Very different to being allergic though, but we did have to work hard for some years to find stuff she could eat.

The book should help and I'm sure there will be a forum lurking somewhere if you google EE.

Another place which may help with ingredients is the online shop I use - www.goodnessdirect.co.uk You can choose which ingredients you want to avoid and all items have a code so that you can see if they contain eggs, wheat etc.

There's a book called 'What to Eat When You Can't Eat Anything: The Complete Allergy Cookbook' by Chupi Sweetman (Author), Luke Sweetman (Author) ISBN-13: 978-1569244111. That has loads of good yummy recipes. I borrowed it from the library, I'm not sure if it's still in print. It is written by two youngsters who had multiple food intolerances so it is aimed at that kind of age group.

I cannot have anything from a cow, including beef, and have a violent soya allergy! Thankfully eggs are ok. Recently I have discovered Lactofree milk and yogurts and have found that I can have these no problem at all. They have made life so much easier. ANy chance that she could have these in moderation? Sorry if I am being dense :roll:
