Just dug my old Singer out and checked the serial number, it was made in 1895 and still works perfectly. I'll have to dust it off and do some sewing now.

Oh that is such a beautiful machine ! One to treasure, for certain! I have 2 old Singers which I use in preference to my modern Jones which is a "bleep"! One belonged to my Grandma and was converted to run on electricity after the war and the other is a treadle machine which I've just mastered . It folds away into a table and I love it. These old machines are as smooth as silk to run and are a joy to use. They may not do fancy stitches but they are just so nice to work on.
