Hi guys,

I really want more chickens, so i was thinking about getting some ex - batts. Just a quick question to see if i could get a second hand rablu (off Ebay - they are much cheaper on there than eglus ) and somehow changing it into an eglu of some sort.

 

Also, is the run on a rablu as big as an eglu run!?

 

Any help would be great guys!

Kitbag - you can buy a rabbit to chicken conversion kit in the eglu shop - they are £68. As long as it is a rablu and not a Guinlu, the run is the same as the chicken one. A giunlu run is only half the length. Good luck with your search

My little bro has his chooks in a rablu without the conversion and I took my back roosting bars out for a while and replaced it with a cat litter tray and beeding as the irls wouldn`t use the bars.

When your ex-batts come initially they may not have strong enough legs for roosting and so you may not need to convert the rablu in the first instance - I know ours chose to sit on floor of shed at first until they were stronger.

Have a look in the free to good home section - there is a eglu run going free in London area - not sure if close enough to you. Thought of that as apparently the "shiny" green eglus are £200 from Omlet just now. Might work out as cheap as getting rablu from ebay and converting.

From the outside they are the same but on the inside they are different.

 

Chicken Eglu

This has nesting box for egg laying, slide out poop tray and roosting bars

 

Rablu

some green eglus came out of the mould shiny rather that matt so omlet offered these ones with a 10% reduction in the for sale section. Other than that no difference that I know of

That's it! I rang to ask if they had any re-con eglus they said no but they had the shiny green eglus.
