Hennubi
I feel like I have heard that you are not supposed to wash eggs (like if they are pooey..) but I can find any definative answers anywhere.. It seems a little strange to me but thought maybe it would be becuse they are porous? anyway we are only have 1 layer so far so its fairly academic but I was just wondering what everyone else did..? Thanks, Becky
Stevie
You shouldnt wash eggs because the shells are porous and any bacteria on outside gets forced inside.I just brush any dried poo off with my hand.
Cinnamon
Correction, you CAN wash eggs (I have done it many times), but you need to use hand temperature water, no soaps or anything, do it quickly & dry it right away. The warm water prevents the bacteria getting into the egg through the shell

Hen Watch
I don't bother washing them unless I have to give them away, then I use warm water on some kitchen towel and just give them a quick rub over.
Redwing
I tend to wipe mine over with a bit of kitchen roll dampened with warm water then dry them straight away
Lesley
You can buy an Egg Sanitiser which is what we use - we buy ours from The Domestic Fowl Trust.

AJuff
After reading Mrs Beeton at the in-laws house I wash my eggs and smear them in butter to 'dry preserve' them. It blocks the pres and they keep longer.

little jerry
I always get one spottless egg and one poo covered egg from my two girls. I know which one is the culprit. But I just clean it with cold water and a soft cloth. So far so good.
Cinnamon
Change to hand temperature water to be safe Little Jerry It stops the bacteria going through the shell.
