AJuff
I couldn't find aubiose here either . . even Easibed is out of stock as apparently there is a shortage of wood!!! I am now considering a layer of rubber chips or slate chips and hosing down every week as a permanent solution. Someone had slate chips on here I believe??? Also will have to go back to shredded paper in the nest box too.
Ecky
Hi, Tom was quicker than me . Another option is to phone your local tack shop (I think that's what is it called, a horse shop that sells sattles etc.) They normally do horse bedding and that's what Aubiose and Hemcore is. I've got mine from the local shop. The might deliver. Delivery from flyte so fancy for these large balls is pretty expensive (understandably). Good luck with your new ladies, have fun. eggypeggy
If you take the back road from Hitchin to Welwyn through Codicote, there is a farm shop on the right hand side just before you get to Welwyn. I've seen Auboise bales there. Not sure what the costs are and sorry I have no idea the name of the place other wise you could call. But if you have a car and you know which road I'm talking about then you've probably driven past it. Let me know if you need more detail and I'll have a look on the map for road names. ails
Hi, I don't have room to store a large bag of Aubiose but I ordered some small bags off Ebay recently to keep me going for now. They arrived pretty quckly and seem to go a long way. Hope that helps Ails

They sell Aubiose and its £8 something a bale hubby got me some last week.

Hen Watch
Glad you have some local info from posts on here. But for others wanting same info, Auboise or Hemcore is horse bedding made from hemp. So look in the Yellow Pages under Equestrian Supplies, Tack Shop, or Horse Supplies. I get mine from a Tack Shop locally about £8/9 per bale. One bale lasts me ages and I use it in the nextbox, poop tray and 1" deep in eglu run floor. PS. Auboise is a French brand and Hemcore is English brand.
eggypeggy
Yes Barbara, I think that's it.. I drive past quite alot but never pay much attention. Bought some feed there over xmas because I ran out and Thornes was closed! had a mini panic and then phoned around. When I was there noticed they had auboise. I don't actually use it myself. Hope you find it ok kate. They've got other chickeney bits inside so take you wallet!
OwenLdn
i used http://www.surreyequestrian.co.uk/auboise-25kg.html real quick next day delivery- think it was £7 delivery charge- was going to buy 2 bags but it jumped up to £14 delivery so decided against it- its a huuuuuge bag! Should last ages! Good luck! There was also a place in Windsor that sold it and did free deliveryies in the local area- cant think of the name of the place- but they looked good too. Edit- just found it: http://www.pawsandclawsonline.co.uk/index.html They looked good too- and free delivery!
beverley
hi, i live in stevenage, and had a problem too, until i read these posts, so went for a recky yesterday, and found the farm shop just outside codicote, (literally just as you leave codicote towards welwyn on the right, there is no name it just says farmshop. they also sell pellets, layers mash, and various other chicken stuff. i got two bales into my car (i have a small car) before that i had bought some wood chip from b&q but it was coloured, and dyed the hens feet red. diddn't think that was such a good idea. anyway good luck, hope this helps beverley
