ted
Hi Char, what types of bantams do you have? Some are more flighty and can get a bit bored so the more space the better!! I have 7 in a cube which is more than enough although my 2 leghorns and the lakenvelder can get a bit stir crazy. As a rule of thumb i have worked on 1.5 times for bantams so if you can get 3 chickens then that is max 5 bantams... in terms of the ladder they did struggle to start but I put a plank of wood onto the first rung for the first 2 nights. They all get in one way or another now... Cheers

The Dogmother
I have a dozen banties in a cube, some of them are true bantams so very small. They all handle the ladder well and love their palace.
char
Another question people keep saying your not going to get many eggs with bantams if i have 6 how many eggs should i expect daily (i know not so many in the winter) my hubby is loosing patience as it started with a eglu run and 3 hens now hes having to build a encloser for my cube and 6 maybe more bantams
The Dogmother
Bantams and miniatures are pure breeds and thus are more led by the seasons and light available. Some of my girls are retired and have stopped laying, but I got 6 eggs today and they're not up to full whack yet. Some days at the moment, I get just two and in the winter I don't get any for about 9 weeks.
Mrs Webmuppet
We have two bantams, Scurry stopped laying in October and hasn't restarted yet and Snowy only laid about two eggs last year (too posh to push that one ) and hasn't even thought about it this year! We are hoping to add to the bantam flock once the Cube arrives. (once agreement can be reached on which ones to get!)
ted
None of mine have given any eggs yet. They arrived just after Christmas...
madchickenlady
Hi I have six pekins. Only three are in lay, and they average four a week each. At the moment, that's 12/13 eggs. More than enough for a family of four!
