Cate in NZ
Aaaargh, it's been a beautiful morning here today, glorious sunshine, light beeze, not too hot but very pleasantly warm. I've got some great burly fencing guys trogging up and down my hill sticking in stakes and wires to fence the land off into paddocks for the goats & sheep, and I just did 2 loads of laundry. I was feeling well happy with myself, you know that all's well with the world and I'm on top of my housework and everything else type of feeling . Anyway, just nipped upstairs to reward myself with a quick half hour on the computer....and in the time it took me to get upstairs the heavens opened, torrential wet stuff . The fencers made a dash for their ute, and I can see them all huddled in there now , and I'm thinking I should go and rescue the washing...but I'm too much of a wimp to venture out in that . Why does it always seem to rain just I finally get to the point where I'm feeling on top of the laundry pile . Is it just me
bluekarin
Nope. I have been known, on several occasions, to be hanging out my washing when it starts to rain. But as more is hung than waiting to be hung, I carry on, despite getting wet Also, sometimes a bit of rain can give a nice fresh smell to washing, especially when it's ironed. But, I have also had to bring in washing which I hung out with very bad timing and we then had a week of rain. Didn't smell too fresh then, and I had to rewash it all I've just got on op of my washing, only for the kids to be sick, so the pile grows again. Ms Marple
I gave up hanging it out a long time ago. I just drape it over the aga these days, although my mum always goes on about the smell of washing that has dried outside! Over- rated in MHO, but then I can't trust it not to rain if I am out all day.
Egluntyne
Infuriating. You are going native, Cate, with your use of the word 'ute'. :D
The Dogmother
I get that too, deecide that it's going to stay sunny, so put the washing on the line, go to work and it starts to rain... stuck at work, washing on the line!!!!!
Helly Welly
I never rescue the washing unless it looks like it'll rain for days. It'll just dry again. Mind you, i only put the washing out when the weather is likely to remain dry so it won't be going out for a few months yet. My neighbour puts hers out in WInter, surely it doesn't get dry?? MIL very generously bought Seb his first car whilst she was over here on holiday......and he wanted a ute
