Henhathnofury
Can you mix pure breeds and hybrids or is it best not to? I was told by a breeder that it is not advisable but I would interested to hear your practical experiences....
tom123
Yes, I have a light Sussex (pure breed) and 2 silver sussexs (pure breed) in with a bluebelle and a Maran Cuivre (hybrid version) Good Luck Tom

Henhathnofury
Has anyone mixed their Omlet breeds with new pure breeds - that's what the breeder was against most....he seemed to be a bit down on Omlet and the Eglu....
TAJ
Mine are mixed, the Omlet chickens may have different names, but they are no different to other hybrids. Some breeders are anti hybrids full stop so do not be put off. Tracy
Madbird
Mixed flock here - no issues I think care needs to be taken if mixing large fowl and bantam, or the 'gentler' pure breeds that can be subject to bullying like silkies or Faverolles...? Janty
Mine are totally mixed. I have tiny pure breed pekins through to huge pure breed brahmas living with my hybrids. No problems at all. Obviously you would have to take itros carefully but you would with any breed.
