little chickadee
May seem like a strange question, and it's not for me I'm asking, but my lovely 7yr old. A while back he was after some Bantams which someone stupidly said that he could have with his birthday money from EVERYONE and probably a lot of his Christmas presents (asking for money instead of presents) We thought that this would be the end of the matter, but he decided that's what he wanted to do. We've already got 7 Chickens and kind of like the tiny bit of our garden which hasn't been ruined! He has decided though that a pet frog would be just as cool as some Bantams, so I'm seizing on this idea! I've googled it, and Certain frogs (eg African Dwarf Frogs) look fairly similar to look after to Goldfish (we've managed that for a few years ) Just wondering if any of you have pet frogs! (Birthday isn't till September, but he's autistic, so plans things waaaay in advance!)
ClaireG
I had a tree frog about 20 years ago. It was fairly easy to keep. The thing i didn't like was hearing the live crickets i had to feed him on chirping away!!
Chickvic
My sister kept 4 frogs in a goldfish bowl with goldfish. I don't know what type they were, she used to buy frozen food for them, just popped it out of an ice cube tray and straight into the water. I'll ask her later and see if she can remember what they are

Chillicat
Hi - what a lovely idea. Tree frogs are brilliant and you can get them for around £15/£20 each, BUT you 'll need to feed them on live food, like crickets AND, if you are going to do it properly, the vivarium set up can cost a bit too. Alternatively, not sure if you're supposed to, but I have hatched our own frogs from frog spawn taken from our pond. I just got a plastic reptile tank and kept topping it up with fresh pond water. The kids loved it and it was a great experience watching them turn into tadpoles and frogs. We have loads of frog spawn in the pond right now!
